Manager du Fablab de Grenoble, La Casemate, Jean-Michel est un acteur du mouvement des “Makers”.  Il a participé à la création des premiers Fablabs aux Pays-Bas, puis a suivi les cours du Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) depuis la Norvège. Bidouilleurs du 21ème siècle, il participe au développement d’environnements d’expérimentations et d’apprentissages offerts par les Fablab ainsi qu’à la structuration des réseaux internationaux des « Makers ».

Lors de son intervention, Jean-Michel nous expliquera comment le mouvement des « Makers » et l’esprit « Do-it-yoursell » changent la façon dont nous apprenons et enseignons. Il nous présentera les nouvelles perspectives pour l’éducation inspirées de ce mouvement global.

What is your story?
I have a Msc of Arts and technology. I assisted in the  opening of the first Fablabs in  the Netherlands. Then I went to Norway to follow some MIT courses concerning the fablab.

What does the topic "Future Learnings" inspire in you ? 
If we want to advance, as a society and as humans, we have to create learning environments that evolve with us. We cannot ask people to create the future by showing them what WE have done, we should try and show them what THEY could do. Learning is about showing where to look, not what to look for.

What would you like to share with us on the 14th of September ?
How the Fablabs, the maker movement and all this DIY are changing the way we learn, and teach, and how this is a global movement, not just some isolated cases. We teach and learn all the time in the Fablab in our science center, and being the first fully open fablab in a European science center gives me a unique perspective.
